Our story
Les Gueules Salées was founded in 2019 by two enthusiasts driven by a desire to promote the richness of Brittany’s land and fishing industry. Based in Lorient, in southern Brittany, our mission is to support and highlight the treasures of local resources landed in the heart of our region.
We are committed to celebrating the work of Breton sea artisans, these “Gueules Salées” who are true witnesses to a unique human and environmental adventure. In collaboration with the best fishermen, shellfish farmers and fishmongers in the Gulf of Morbihan, Lorient, Groix, Loctudy and Audierne, we select family-run businesses with a rich history and a reputation for exceptional expertise. Every product we offer is the result of their passion and commitment to sustainable and responsible fishing.

THE WORKSHOP
In the center of Lorient, on the fishing port of Keroman
Our fish workshop is in the heart of Keroman fishing port in Lorient. It is Brittany's leading fishing port and France's largest fish auction in terms of value. It is also France's main landing port for live langoustines.
Being based in Keroman means working to the rhythm of the tides, in direct contact with daily catches and close to the industry's key players. It is also a strategic choice that allows us to be responsive, select the best products at source and guarantee total control of the quality chain, from boat to plate.

For us, being a fishmonger is not just about buying and selling fish. It’s about handling it with care and bringing the best of the sea to your plate. It’s about connecting people, precision and trust. It’s a profession that bridges the gap between fish markets and kitchens. Between those who take to the sea and those who transform the product into something sublime.
We chose this profession for what it represents: a commitment to the French industry, promoting the work of Breton fishermen, and defending the idea of quality, beauty and goodness. We know our partner fish markets, the seasons, the species, the ports and the boats. We also know our restaurateurs, our artisan smokers and caterers.
Our role is to carefully select the best products, anticipate demand, and guarantee our customers ultra-fresh French seafood products that are rigorously selected, prepared under the best conditions, and delivered as quickly as possible. We carry out this work with high standards and great passion, but also with pride. Because behind every parcel shipped, there is a region, fish and people.
